3D-Printing Shop with a Product Configurator
An online shop for personalised 3D-printed products, built around a configurator that shows customers a preview of their piece before they order. Not yet launched.
Overview
An online shop for personalised 3D-printed products, built around a configurator. A product like this is hard to judge from a photo, so customers set up their piece in the browser and see a preview before they order. It has not launched yet, so it is not named here.
My role: sole developer, end to end, and still maintaining it.
Approach
- A configurator at the centre: customers adjust their design and see an interactive preview in the browser
- From design to print: the same design data drives both the browser preview and the preparation for printing
- Legal requirements built in: privacy and the rules for selling online are part of the product from the start
Engineering practice
- Automated tests for the core logic, and browser tests that check the configurator actually renders and responds
- Continuous integration on every change
Status
A working preview, not public yet.
